We don‘t use chemical products on our plants or our animals.
We do not use antibiotics unless recommended by a veterinarian to improve quality of animal life. If an antibiotic or medication is recommended by a veterinarian, for animal health, that animal is isolated and all waste is disposed of away from the farm.
We keep natural trees, shrubs, and resources intact around our farm. Growing alongside Minnesota native maples, pines, willows, dog wood, and more.
We use already established pasture plots to grow our crops, and replant with native Minnesota grasses when not in use.
Our apple orchard and blueberry field being the exception that the plants are fixed, but we still allow natural MN grasses/flowers to grow alongside them.
Planting Minnesota friendly and drought tolerant crops help conserve water.
Utilizing rain barrels, and natural rainfall to water crops and animals.
Our ground is a beautiful mix of sand and black soil, leading to a naturally soft and rich ground.
Fertilizer (animal waste, plant waste) is sprinkled on-top after being weathered and broken down.
Tilling is not used on our farm.
Our breed of pig Kune Kune has a shorter face and does significantly less damage than typical swine on the environment. They don‘t root as aggressively as other swine and maintain a stable environment.
We make a lot of poop! Poop is all piled and allowed to break down naturally prior to being utilized as fertilizer on our crops, ours woods, and our yard. The piles are not located near natural waterways, and can not pollute and damage local rivers. Most animal waste is considered “hot” and is too concentrated to be placed directly onto plants. Rabbits are unique and their waste can be directly placed onto plants.
We are continuously adding more solar energy to our home and our farm.
