These birds have an average weight of 12-14lbs. These elegant birds are best known for their outstanding plumage full of curls and long trailing feathers. These birds are comparable to a bride with a long wedding gown train. The only accepted breed colors are white, buff, and grey despite other colors such as lavender, cream, blue, splash, and others being found. I personally find these birds to be playful and adventurous looking for mischief. Friendly, free ranging birds will seek out human company often leading to becoming stuck in garages, porches, and playhouses. Sexlinking is possible in white only breeding pens, with female goslings having a darker back and males having a more vibrant yellow back. This breed can struggle with wing deformation due to their unique curling feathers, so choosing quality breeding stock and keeping a close eye on wing tip joints as the goose develops into adulthood is a must. Improper diet while the gosling is developing can lead to various types of wing deformation in all goose breeds.
Breeding Tips:
• Male:Female ratio 1:1
• Deep Water Access
• High Protein Diet (Adult Bird Only)
• Trimming Around Vent
• Removing Eggs Daily
• Use of Quality Incubator
This is a breed I recommend for hobbyist who want a beautiful bird with an active and playful temperament. This breed would not be ideal for egg consumption due to the low laying rate, and poor for meat consumption due to their smaller size. Easy breed to start on a hobby farm with an amazing personality.
