EXHIBITION African

These birds have a weight between 16-22lbs. The African goose is a massive bird. Its heavy body, thick neck, stout bill, and jaunty posture give the impression of strength and vitality. Mother Goose’s Farmstead only works with Exhibition Quality birds. 

Exhibition vs Production: 

• Exhibition Quality African are selectivity bred birds to show standard, so only the healthiest and best quality birds are used.
• Production African, are typically mass produced resulting in a smaller build, lighter weight, and are often mixed with Chinese. Production  African lay more eggs, so are commonly used as a meat and egg bird.

 Breeding Tips:  

• Male:Female ratio 1:3

• Deep Water Access   

• High Protein Diet (Adult Bird Only)     

• Removing Eggs Daily  

• Use of Quality Incubator    

This is a breed I recommend for hobbyist who want a bird with more of an aloof and independent nature. They prefer to explore the pond and yard in their flocks. They make wonderful weed geese, and will alarm when predators are near.
